Hiatus, Relocation and a Content Patch – Development Update #024

Hello!

So it’s been nearly two months since RPG Tycoon launched and I just want to thank everyone who has picked it up the game and engaged with it since launch, many of you have been so positive about it and delivered such wonderful and friendly feedback, which I really appreciate.

I’ve been fairly quiet over the past two months due to a small hiatus taken over March and thanks to the success of launch I finally moved out of my family home in Norfolk and relocated to Brighton. But I’m finally settled into the new home and beginning to get back into a workflow now, which also means the return to a more regular schedule of blog posts keeping you informed of what’s going on at Skatanic Studios HQ (which is no longer a bedroom, hooray!).

So what’s next?

I’m happy to announce that Game 2 is currently in pre-production. I won’t say anything more than that as we’re still working out the details, but Chris will still be working with us on the new project which I’m really excited about due to his incredible work on the RPG Tycoon soundtrack. The game will be a little bit different to the Tycoon style of RPG Tycoon, but it’s still a management game and something I’m sure many of you will be excited about. We’ll have more details in the future, once things start to come together more.

With that said, I’m still committed to working on and improving RPG Tycoon. In fact, in the spare time I’ve had over the past two months I’ve been planning a whole list of features I want to include in new versions of the game through a number of free updates. I’m currently in the process of completing the features for a patch planned later this month, include a new and improved camera system that smoothly eases off as you navigate. There’s also a number of bug fixes and UI improvements on the way, and some changes based on player feedback.

Navigation Feels a Lot Nicer Now, LOOK AT THAT SMOOTHING!

You can expect the update towards the end of the month, assuming everything goes to plan! (If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up to the mailing list to get notified of when the new build goes live!)

Cheers,

Matt
